You'll find the latest national record published here or people sharing their experiences about workshops, products, trips and much more.
Full of excitement we went to Zwevegem, to meet mermaid Evi and Pieter at 7pm. New faces behind the Transfo's bar and Marc himself kept an eye on our safety. We did a couple of duck dives, alignments to the rope and turns. First hour we shared the pool with four other French freedivers in an almost empty pool. Most people leave on Friday eve before Pentecost and so Blue Sens took advantage of it ;) Lot's of fun at Zwevegem duiktank again, congrats to Evelien who touched to bottom of the pool, yoohoo, good job! Our next stop will be at Dive4Life, on 27th of May. Be there!
A mermaid's message
With the mermaids gathering at Beringen, last weekend, our attention was attracted by the convention lecture on the conservation of oceans.
Everyone knowing the problem of roaming waste, but even more, the impact of microplatics on our environment.
Blue Sensation© had the opportunity to meet Simona Boschetti, a driven phd in marine biology, who explained the problem of the concentration of plastics and the damage to coral reefs, like the Great Barrier Reef, but
also the circulation of indigestible microplastic at great depths in our ocean. Therefor Blue Sensation© wants to come with a project, as it also directly affects our community, the blue generation.
Recently we're working on a conventional lecture at the end of this year.

Neptunes Cup... the day after, we had something more to celebrate, indeed. For two of the Ukrainian team it was a first competition experience, however this team came back home with three medals and a cup.
One of them, Matsuka Aliaksandr, did a wonderful 2'33" and a 89m DYN, an honor for Belgium! The big effort came from Alena Udovenko.
Number 3 on the Ukraine female ranking DYN/ DNF and 4th place in STA, came to participate to our Belgian Freediving Cup doing very nice performances, with a 3'50", a 125m DYN and a 84m DNF.
But this company felt far more in love for the Ghent beer, cheese of Brugges and the view at Ostend beach, when touring around :)
For this occasion Blue Sensation© organized a special event to welcome our colleagues from Kiev. As you know, we joined forces with the Ukrainians at Transfo, tuesday night after the competition and finally jumped in with a lucky nine. With lots of joy and laughter, two hours passed away in no time.
Early next morning the boys left us to continue their travel, for Alena one more day was left in Belgium. What better could she join than a Wednesday evening static class at Zottegem pool?
I'm pretty sure now, Ukraine representative Alexander Bubenchikov and judge Denys Rylov, have a good reason to be proud about their freediving schools.
Thanks to Alena, Sasha and Misha for visiting our country, hope to see you soon again, guys ;)
Freediving Cup results into success
Good morning people, this is Blue Sensation with more news from the Zottegem event... the Neptunes Cup 2018, first edition.
My apologies for those who could not wait for this article to appear, finally here it is :)
Indeed, in no time the NC 2018 results were posted on social media!
This competition was an exciting breakdown of personal bests and yet with another national record! But first we need to thank lots of people who helped us to realize this moment. Many thanks goes to AIDA France, who parented our competition, without them it never could take place. Meister provided us all necessary stuff, FreeXperience supported our event with beautiful prices and the OK Diving School of Zottegem and the brotherhood of the DukDuvels diving club of Kortrijk joined forces, providing us enough men power to guarantee our safety . Without them and the support of our judges, they did a wonderful job. Others, who did a nice job were our athletes. Many new faces at first glance were registered at this Belgian event, but also more well known faces, such as Marc Verstappen and Jean Ploumhans have participated.
Furthermore, Erik De Jong defended the Dutch tricolor and Jamy Schumacher came to our pool as coach, for this time.
Jury of service, Wouter Van Crombruggen and Philippe Desitter, assisted by Marie and Kimmo, consulting the safety divers at first in a seperate gathering room. The NC 2018 finally started, once after a briefing was given to the athletes. The first athlete to break the ice was Muyshondt Linde. Remember Linde is Belgian's CNF record holder, aiming for a decent 3'10" STA. Second athlete, running off with the silver medal was An Meirsman, with a 4'19" personal best. But top of the notch, mounting the stages with the gold, was Alena Udovenko from Ukraine. Congrats ladies ;)
At the men's ranking we see the Netherlands taking silver, with a 6'02" STA and the proud conqueror, Jean Ploumhans with 7'01"! For this performance he got a special price, as the previous static performance of this competition series at Zottegem, was broken. The competition lasted for about four hours, with thé best performance that came from the Netherlands, Erik De Jong, with an bomb-a-stic 209m in DYN. Good for a new national record! Can it ever be broken?
Found out the results here after. Well done everyone, we hope to see you again on our next events... Oh, don't you worry, more pictures at Blue Sensation.org will appear soon, keep an eye on it, tiger !)
Thanks Cedric, Kimmo and Bart for the stunning pictures

Bart's blog you need to know
Blue Sensation© is glad to present to you, one of most astonishing underwater photography, by Bart 'Hyper III' Holvoet.
Bart has a passion for the underwater world for about 18 years now.
We first met in the busy shopping malls of Hurghada, on our way to Safaga, back in 2010 (I guess...). Bart was very fanatic about his camera
and still, his pictures are becoming true sea life stories that attracts your imagination about the beauty underwater species we all need to protect.
Dive into Bart's blog and discover a different world. Don't forget to subscribe to his You Tube channel, you might surprised ;)
Happy Easter wishes...
Blue Sensation© wishes all of you and their families a cosy and happy Easter celebration! Yesterday we had the honor to make part of one of the UF activities. Due to holidays on the 1st of April, Universal Freedivers founder Felice Mastroleo came up with the brilliant idea to gather forces in Transfo and whoever wanted to participate. The water was just warm enough - for me it was the case ;) - to stay there for two hours and so did we. Alongside two lines, we explored the inside of the wonderful diving facility Transfo with 13.000 m³ of pure joy (-15m deep, wider than NEMO33). It was nice to meet you again An, Bert, Ariel, Felice and Magalie and hope to see you soon down there ;)
Psssst... don't forget to visit the EVENTS section in the upper menu and find the REGISTRATION FORM, if you like to participate to our Neptunes Cup!

Julie Gautier on big screen
Last Thursday, during the International Women's Day, a performance was made by means of a short film. Held on the 8th of March, this day was created in the sign of militancy and the sense of solidarity for women around the world, usually based on a specific theme.
Julie Gautier, known for her magnificent movie work such as Freefall and Ocean Gravity dedicated her recent project AMA for this occasion. For this event Happy Freediver Inside had the opportunity to organize a projection of the film at the Poseidon pool. Not less than 80 fanatics came to wonder the professionaly composed images, telling so much more than a thousand words.
"Ama" is a silent film. It tells a story everyone can interpret in their own way, based on their own experience. There is no imposition, only suggestions...
We had the occasion to have a small wifi chat and greet with Julie and Guillaume. Afterwards Dominique and Alexandre Van Win organized a pool training, written by Guillaume Néry himself.
It was a wonderful evening, great reunion with old friends and lots of fun. Thank you Dominique and Alexandre for sharing this moment with us :)
For those who weren't able to come to Brussels, find the link to Julie's film below.

Serbia announces registration open for WC
The Organizing committee of the 2018 AIDA Pool World Championships (Belgrade, Serbia) announces that registration of athletes is starting 1st of March and will last until 1st of June. Athletes can fill the application form on our official website: https://www.iapwc-2018.com/register
Indeed, our colleagues from AIDA Serbia just announced the Individual Pool World Championships, that will take place at Belgrade June 2018.
Blue Sensation project
By the end of this year we hope to (s)cope with something totally new
to the Belgian freediver's community. Exactly, you can take the meaning of 'scope' literally as we'll be developing a network of eye specialists and opticians who will be able to help the majority of those wearing contact lenses :)
Thanks to Stephan and his team, also we got concerned about this topic at Deeperblue. The more we know, the better we can focus on the issue.
Check out our questionnaire now at the PROJECTS link above :)
Blue Sensation at Transfo
In contrary, we did not forget about our meeting at Zwevegem, last sunday. Less courageous than the conditions (at the quarry of Lessines), which the Universal Freedivers are used to, we submerged ourselves into the Transfo installation, at 17 degrees and bubble-clear visibility (joking).
For sure we all have learned something from eachother, fixed and new buddies, but most of all we had fun.
The sky blue tank at Zwevegem city was filled with six freedivers, thanks to Tom, Jeffrey, Amr, Filip and Dieter for joining us ;)
Lots of attention to basic and safety techniques during freediving in this two-hour session. Thanks to Amr for his assistance as an instructor.
Filip and Jeffrey did work hard on the duckdive, finning techs and their equalisation and they did fine!
Dieter and Tom both did a wonderful performance during the resurfacing of a black-outed diver.
Indeed, Blue Sensation is organizing EFR courses soon, because safety is one of our top priorities.
At one hand we say 'Never ever (free)dive alone' and we'd like you to remind the wonderful campaign, initiated by Fred Buyle years ago*
Always supervise your buddy :)
At the other side, we would like to motivate the freediving community to have a (safety related) refresher course at regular base.
Let yourself guide by experienced freedivers who knows.
Catch ya later ;)

Manage your breath
Our first activity this year, brought together no less than 9 participants.
A real success! Silent, it became when suddenly Tibetan music filled the room, while a number of stretch poses were demonstrated to us. We were pleased to welcome 8 curious minds for the Prana session. Finally, we got into the water so relaxed we forgot about time. Thanks again Dominique for this wonderful experience. Many thanks to Sofie and Dieter to keep an eye on our safety... and special thanks to our friend Bart, for making such amazing sub-pictures. At last we do not forget to thank Meister for their great job on the suits. We hope to you again soon, namasté ;)
This morning I discovered this remarkable blog from Renee, with whom I have previously been able to share our passion for freediving in Dahab.
A reflection that is worth the effort to read about 'Why do we freedive?'.
What drives us to go back, to go deeper, to go further...? Share your insights with Renee Blundon and many others at https://www.reneeblundon.com/…/freediving-self-cultivation/… thanks ;)
Help Frédéric Lemaître translating his Freediving & physiology book. Frédéric is related to the University of Rouen (France). With over 90 publications into the field of Sport Sciences and Physical Education, he makes us discover different angles of free- and deep sea diving for many years now. A previous (reviewed) work 'L'apnée - De la théorie à la pratique', published in 2015, is only one of many. Make it happen and help us translating this wonderful book, how? Pre-order the book right here. Thank you :)
The interview is coming :)
I'd rather lose myself in passion, than lose my passion.
